Dr.
Nelson's research interests include wildlife-habitat relationships and mammalian
ecology.
Current studies include:
-
The dynamics of beaver populations.
-
The ecology and genetics of red squirrels in Illinois.
-
Habitat ecology of raccoons and other mesopredators.
His research has been funded by
the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the National Forest Service, the National Park
Service and the Department of the Army.
Dr. Nelson serves as coordinator of the Environmental Biology Program at EIU.
