Environmental Biology and Transnational Management, June 7-8, 2010. Spend two weeks in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico learning about the unique ecosystems and how US and Mexican government and private organizations are working together to protect the environment.  The course will include learning about common environmental and health threats such as pollution and urban sprawl as well as several field visits to threatened habitats, refineries, national parks, and municipal facilities. STA3970 Ethnobotany in China.  May 15-June 3, 2010.  Led by Dr. Liu, a biologist native to Hunan, and Dr. Tucker, a botanist very knowledgeable of ethnic use of plants.  You will get first-hand experience in the rich and ancient Chinese culture, interwoven with exciting science developments.  Darwin Day. Darwin Day is February 12th, the date of birth of Charles Darwin in the year 1809, at Shrewsbury, England. On this date, and throughout the month, people from all over the world are honoring the life, work and influence of Charles Darwin with events and activities which celebrate science and our shared humanity. Join in the events and celebrate the adventure of science, and the 'passion to know' that drives us to inquire, explore and discover what this world is all about. All events are free and open to the public.
