America.

Kipp C. Kruse retired from EIU. Kipp began his
career in the fall of 1979 and went through the ranks of Assistant, Associate
and Full Professor spending his entire academic career at EIU. He served as
Chair of the Department of Zoology (three years) and later was the first Chair
of the Department of Biological Sciences (six years). Kipp was awarded the
Eastern Illinois University Distinguished Faculty award in 1991 and received the
College of Sciences Ringenberg Award in 2002. As a faculty member he received
six Faculty Excellence Awards in the area of Teaching and Research.

Kip McGilliard was chosen as one of the COS
recipients to the "Excellence in Use of Technology" Award for his incorporation
of PowerLab into the Human Physiology and Animal Physiology courses.
Scott Meiners received the Lida G. Wall Faculty
Research Mentoring Award.
Britto Nathan and Henry Owen were promoted to Full
Professor, effective Fall Semester, 2006.

William W. Scott, age 85, of Charleston,
passed away on June 24, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette,
four sons, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He began teaching
in the Botany Department in 1968 and retired in 1989
where he served as Associate Dean of the Graduate School and Chair of the Botany
Dept. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and Korea. Memorials may be made to the
American Macular Degeneration Foundation or Trinity Episcopal Church in Mattoon,
Illinois.
