News, Honors and Awards

 

Stacey Fuhrmann Dunn, a recent graduate from the departmental Honors Program, has been named the First Place prize winner in the McClung Award competition.  The McClung Award is given for the most outstanding paper published in BIOS each year.  Stacey's paper is titled "Foraging and prey handling behaviors of the generalist Thamnophis hammondii offered various prey types." BIOS
75(2):58-64, 2004.  Congratulations to Stacey and her mentor, Dr. Stephen Mullin.


Joyce Edwards retired as the departmental secretary following 22 years of service.

What attracted you to EIU:

EIU’s commitment to academic excellence through both teaching and research was the decisive reason why I joined the faculty. In addition, the diversity of expertise in the Biology Department made it an ideal place for collaborative research. Most importantly, I will be teaching courses that I enjoy to a diverse student body.

I have a 13 month old son, so he takes up most of my free time. Before he was born, I played a lot of soccer, backpacked and hunted.
