Alumni Volunteers needed at College Fairs
Throughout the year, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions receives invitations to attend various college fairs across the state of Illinois. A college fair is a program in which many colleges and universities are grouped together to allow perspective students to conveniently obtain information from an array of institutions in a short amount of time.
The Alumni Services and Undergraduate Admissions Offices are looking for volunteers to help recruit the best and brightest students to EIU! We’re looking for enthusiastic, articulate alumni to help represent EIU at upcoming fall and spring college fairs taking place throughout the state of Illinois.
Information you need to know and what to expect:
Before the Fair
- Brush up on your EIU knowledge! Check out www.eiu.edu for quick and up-to-date information.
At the College Fair
- Attire for most college fairs is business casual.
- Try to arrive at least 20 minutes before the fair starts to allow ample time for parking and to get settled.
- Check in with the program host and find your table or booth.
- During the fair you may be responsible for but not limited to; answering any inquiries, handing out EIU literature and/or maintaining notes for any follow-ups the Admissions Office may need to be aware of. (Please note: an EIU admissions counselor will also be in attendance.)
- Most importantly have fun and let the perspective students in on your own personal post graduate and alumni experiences!
After the Fair
- Follow up with the Alumni Services Office should you have any questions.
How to Volunteer
- To volunteer or for more information call Chelsea Frederick ’06, Assistant Director of Alumni Services, at 217-581-7030, or e-mail alumeiu@eiu.edu.
