EIU Alumni and Friends Football Outing:: EIU Panthers vs. Fighting Illini, Champaign, IL

Join us for a tailgate prior to the game as the Panthers face the Illini on the gridiron.

Join fellow alumni and friends and show your Panther Pride during the EIU vs. U of I Game Watch Party.

Alumni Speaker Series: St. Louis

Join us in downtown St. Louis for a special alumni reception featuring EIU alumnus and motivational speaker Randy Sims ’89.

 

Despite battling major health issues, including cystic fibrosis and a double-lung transplant, Randy has found success in the business world and as an athlete. Randy shares his unique perspective on dealing with life’s challenges to inspire others to turn their obstacles - no matter how big or how small - into great opportunities. Hearing Randy’s story and ideas on how to cope, overcome and succeed will entertain you, teach you and inspire you!

Latino Student Alumni Reunion, Charleston, IL

Friday, Sept. 12

  • 5 pm Welcome Reception (Cultural Center): Check in for the reunion and reminisce about your experiences at Eastern with fellow alumni, friends and guests. The reception will feature light hors d’ oeuvres.
  • 7 pm Family Bowling (Union Bowling Lanes, MLK Jr. Union): Enjoy a night of fun for the family at the Union Bowling Lanes, located on the ground floor of the MLK Jr. Union. Group rate will be provided. No reservations required.
  • 9 pm Comedy Show (7th St. Underground, MLK Jr. Union): Come hang out for a night of laughs in the 7th St. Underground (formerly known as the Rathskellar). Hosted by the University Board Comedy Series.

Saturday, Sept. 13

  • 10 am Campus Tour (Old Main): Get to know your way around Eastern again and see what’s new on campus. Meet in the foyer of Old Main for this one-hour walking tour.
  • 11 am Alumni Training (Charleston-Mattoon Room, Third Floor, MLK Jr. Union): You are still EIU! Join fellow alumni, the Office of Admissions, Minority Affairs, the EIU Alumni Association and several other campus departments for this one-hour seminar highlighting how you can give back through various volunteer opportunities.
  • 4 pm Alumni BBQ Tailgate (Behind O’Brien Stadium): Come out and enjoy food, fun and entertainment as Eastern prepares to take on Indiana State University.
  • 6 pm EIU vs. ISU (O’Brien Stadium): EIU hosts ISU for the first home game of the season.

Sunday, Sept. 14

  • 6 pm Latino Heritage Banquet (Grand Ballroom, MLK Jr. Union): If you can stay for the remainder of the weekend, join students, faculty, staff and guests for the Latino Heritage Banquet. This annual event celebrates Latino heritage, as well as the Latino presence on campus.

Prior to the Panthers kicking off against Jacksonville State, the EIU Alumni Association will be hosting a pre-game celebration, complete with free food and EIU giveaways.

 

The celebration is scheduled for 11:30 am until 1 pm in the tailgating area south of O’Brien Stadium. All alumni, students, family and friends are encouraged to attend!

Celebrating the Legacy & Embracing the Future: Commemorating 100 Years of Pemberton Hall

Friday, October 17

  • 2-4 pm Pemberton Hall Open House and Social Gathering: Tour your old haunts and check out the latest Pemberton Hall renovations and new additions. During the social gathering, you will also have the opportunity to meet and reminisce about your time at Eastern with other former “Pemites,” current students and guests.
  • 2-4 pm Campus Tours: Get to know your way around Eastern again and see what’s new on campus during this one-hour walking tour. Tours will leave from Pemberton Hall at 2, 2:30 and 3 pm No reservations required.
  • 4 pm Pemberton Hall Centennial Commemoration (East Side of Pemberton Hall): The program will include various guest speakers highlighting the history and memories of Pemberton Hall. Those who donate items for the Ladies of Pemberton Hall Time Capsule will be photographed to commemorate the occasion.

Saturday, October 18

  • 8 am Wake-up Breakfast at Pemberton Hall: Get a jump start on the day’s festivities with an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Cost is $5 per person.
  • 9:30 am Homecoming Parade
  • 10:30-11:30 am Pemberton Hall Open House: In case you miss it the first time, here's a second chance to tour your old haunts and check out the latest Pemberton Hall renovations and new additions. No reservations required.
  • 11:30 am Annual Alumni Tent City: All colleges will be “under the big top” south of O’Brien Stadium. Faculty and staff from many of the departments will be available to chat. Past attractions have included the College of Arts and Humanities' famous cornbread and beans cooked over an open fire, live music, freebies and more. No reservations required.
  • 1:30 pm Homecoming Football Game: EIU will host Southeast Missouri for the Homecoming football game. Tickets are $15 per person.

  • 1 pm: Campus Tours: Get to know your way around Eastern again and see what’s new on campus. Meet at Tarble Arts Center for this one hour tour. Please RSVP for this free tour on the reservation form.
  • 5 pm: Social Hour: Check in for the reunion, reminisce with your classmates and start to catch up on the last 50 years at the Tarble Arts Center (map enclosed). During the reception, the Livingston C. Lord Society pin ­presentation will occur and a class photograph will be taken.
  • 6 pm: Reunion Dinner: The Golden Anniversary Reunion Dinner for the Class of 1958 will be held in the Tarble Arts Center. You are invited to linger after dinner and visit with your classmates. Please RSVP on the enclosed form.

Black Student Reunion, Charleston, IL

The 2008 Black Student Reunion committee has planned another unforgettable weekend at EIU.

 

The purpose of the Black Student Reunion is to raise money for scholarships to assist our current students. With your support, these scholarships can help our institution with recruitment and retention for students of color.
