Rush
Advice
- Look
into Greek Life with an open mind:
There are many stereotypes surrounding Sororities
& Fraternities, but it is up to you to find
out what it is all about. Don't be influenced
by people who have not taken the time to check
it out. Go to the source!
- Meet
other members from as many Sororities as possible:
During rush, take the time to visit more than
one or two chapters. Part of rush is finding
the group that is right for you. If you only
look at one or two, you may miss out.
- Ask
questions: There are always questions
when going into a new experience, so don't be
afraid to ask as many questions as you want.
You are entitled to the information as a prospective
new member.
- Bring
your friends with you when you go out for rush:
New places and new people can be less threatening
if you have a friend with you. Who knows? That
friend might become your Sister.
- Don't
pretend to be someone you're not: During
rush, it is important to always be yourself.
This helps you and the organizations that you
meet to make the right decision in choosing
the Greek family that is right for you.
- Don't
rule Greek Life out, because your friends aren't
Greek: One of the wonderful aspects
of Greek Life is the opportunity not only to
make new friends, but also to strengthen your
bonds with old friends.
- Don't
feel pressured into joining a particular Chapter,
just because your friends or family are members:
Just because a certain chapter was right for
your mom, your sister, or your roommate, does
not mean it is right for you.
