| Article
II. : Purpose |
| Section
1: |
The
purpose of the student chapter fostered
by AITP is: to develop a better understanding
of the computer industry. Other areas
include:
- Study equipment
related to data processing for the
purpose of informing the chapter
of new hardware advances
- Disseminate
generally, by all appropriate means,
all fundamentally sound data processing
principles and methods, accepted
internationally by D.P.M.A.
- Promote
sound general principles in data
processing and to study technical
methods with a view to their improvement

Supply
to its members information of the most
current methods and assist them in solving
individual problems.Foster among students
a better understanding of the vital
business role of data processing, the
proper relationship of data processing
to management, and the necessity for
a professional attitude among data processors
in their approach to an understanding
and application of the principles underlying
the science of data processing. |

| Article
III : Membership and Dues
|

1: |
Membership
is open to all Eastern Illinois University
Students including full time, part-time,
and to all majors. |
| Section
2: |
Membership
shall be obtainted by making a 25
dollar payment to the national AITP
organization. Also a 5 dollar fee
is recquired to become member of EIU
Chapter. |

3: |
Memberhip
shall extend for 1 year from the orginal
date of regristration and is renewable
each year. |
| Section
4: |
Membership
dues shall established by the ATIP @
EIU Chapter Executive Board in reliance
to national and local dues. |
| Section
5: |
The
Executive Board shall have authority
to expel or suspend the membership of
any member in the organization if there
is conduct that will disrupt the running
of the organization. A majority vote
from all the Executive Board officers
is required. The membership of any member
becoming ineligible or fails to meet
certain requirements shall be canceled.
If member wants to reapply the new application
must be first approved by Executive
Board officers. |

| Article
IV: Executive Board |
| Section
1. |
The
governing body of the association shall
be called the Executive Board and will
be made of students who are elected
to their respective offices. |
| Section
2. |
The
Executive Board has the power to create
new offices that they feel are needed
to make the organization run more efficiently.
|
| Section
3. |
Duties
and Powers:
- The President's
duties include presiding over all
meetings, calling special meetings,
appoint commitees, assissting in
organizing major events and activites,
meeting and talking with faculty
and deans, and setting up speakers
from companies to come to meetings.
- The Vice-President's
duties are to perform all the duties
required of the President if the
President is absent and assist other
offices and / or committees with
various activities.
- The Treasurer's
duties are to keep an accurate and
complete record of all monetary
transactions and to collect all
the organization's dues. Another
duty is to try to get funds for
the organization from the University
for activities, trips, speakers,
and conferences ( especially the
National Conference). The treasurer
must also use the money appropriately
in accordance to organizational
needs.
- The Secretary's
duties are to keep an accurate and
permanent record of what happens
at all the meetings (refered to
as minutes) and all relevant information
that is important to the organization.
He or she is to make fliers for
important meeting in which special
speakers or guests will be attending
meetings. He or she is also responsible
for sending e-mails to members on:
what is happening in the organization,
what occurs and happens at meetings,
and what important events are upcoming.
- The AITP
Student Representative's duties
include attending various kinds
of meeting campus with other student
organizations called RSOs.This respresentative
attends these meeting to learn how
our organization can become better
and relays to us the the status
of all student organizations in
relation our organinzation.
- The Speaker
's office duties include trying
to get guest speakers to come from
various companies from all part
of the country, particularly Illinois.
This office deals with making contacts
with various individuals in these
companies. This person has to make
many phone calls or emails to these
people to try and set up a date
in which representatives from the
company could come and speak at
an AITP meeting.
- The Fundrasing
Chair's duties include finding ways
the organization can raise money.
This person comes up with ideas
on on how to make money including
having bake sales and selling AITP
T-shirsts and Sweatshirts.
- The Website
Committee Chair duties include maintaining,
updatating the AITP @ EIU Website.
It is up to this person if they
want to totally change the whole
structure and layout of the Website.
This person also has a committee
of students to help with the maintaining
of the site.

Election
of Officers
- The officers
shall be elected in a meeting in
April set up by the Executive Board.
- All nominations
for offices may be presented to
the Executive Board before the Election
Meeting to be eligible.
- Voting shall
be done by written ballots with
a majority of votes sufficent for
election.
- In an event
of a tie in voting, an open vote
will be taken to decide winner.
- If there
is another tie, the Executive Board
decides the winner.
- It is the
job of the Secretary to inform all
organization members of the new
elected officials for each respective
office.

Qualifications
to run for an Office
- Any person
that is registered as a member with
the Association of Information Technology
Professionals and has paid all their
national and local dues is eligible.

| Article
V: Faculty Advisor |
| Section
1: |
The
Faculty Advisor shall be assigned by
the School of Business and Applied Sciences
and be approved by the Executive Board
Committee. This advisor assists the
students with various activities in
the organizations. This advisor also
gives suggestions to the students on
how make the organization more efficient.
The advisor also attends all the meetings.

VI.: Meetings |
| Section
1: |
Meetings shall be made by the Executive
Board as they deem necessary. |
| Section
2: |
Individuals
allowed to attend meetings determined
by Executive Board. |
| Section
3: |
Special
meetings can be called by the President
at any time. |
| Section
4: |
Executive
Board meetings can be attended by any
of the Chapter members. |
| Section
5: |
There
is either an Executive Board meeting
or a regular meeting every week. Executive
Board Meeting and regular meetings alternate
weeks. |

| Article
VII. : Changes |
| Section
1: |
The
Executive Board can make any changes
to the constitution as they deem necessary
in order to make the organization run
as efficient as possible. |
| Section
2: |
Any
suggested changes to the constitution
shall be either in writing or voiced
during an official Executive Board or
regular meeting. This proposed change
will be read at the next meeting and
a decision will be made on it. If it
is decided to accept the change, it
will be enacted at the next Executive
Board meeting. |

VIII. : Ratification |
| Section
1: |
This
constitution can only be ratified with
a majority vote of 2/3rds and at least
50 % of the members present at the meeting.

| Article
IX. : Finances |
| Section
1: |
All the property that belongs to the
organization shall be managed and controled
by Executive Board officiers. |
| Section
2: |
All
the financial policies must be in accordance
with policies set by Eastern Illinois
University. All the financial transactions
shall be reviewed by the Executive Board
officiers, especially the Treasurer. |
| Section
3: |
The
AITP Eastern Illinois Chapter, the national
organization AITP, of any of their affiliates
are not responsible for any member becoming
in peronal or unapproved debt. |

X. : |
Policy |
| Section
1: |
This
organization in affiliation with AITP
shall not discriminate against any group
of people and will not become affiliated
with any political or labor affiliations
or endorse any public or political office.
