Introduction
AITP is the professional
association comprised of career minded individuals
who seek to expand their potential -- employers,
employees, managers, programmers, and many
others. The organization seeks to provide
avenues for all their members to be teachers
as well as students and to make contacts
with other members in the IS field, all
in an effort to become more marketable in
rapidly changing, technological careers.

Purpose
The
purpose of the student chapter fostered
by AITP is to...
- Develop
a better understanding of the nature and
function of data processing
- Promote
sound general principles in data processing
and to study technical methods with a
view to their improvement
- Study
equipment related to data processing for
the purpose of informing the chapter of
new hardware advances
- Disseminate
generally, by all appropriate means, all
fundamentally sound data processing principles
and methods, accepted internationally
by D.P.M.A.
- Supply
to its members information of the most
current methods and assist them in solving
individual problems
- Foster
among students a better understanding
of the vital business role of data processing,
the proper relationship of data processing
to management, and the necessity for a
professional attitude among data processors
in their approach to an understanding
and application of the principles underlying
the science of data processing

is the mission of AITP to provide superior
leadership and education in Information
Technology. AITP is dedicated to using the
synergy of Information Technology partnerships
to provide education and benefits to our
members and to working with the industry
to assist in the overall promotion and direction
of Information Technology.

History
The
AITP roots begin in the 1950s by a group
of technically minded people who saw that
technology was moving so fast that there
would be a need for technically minded people
like themselves to have a users group as
a resource they could turn to in order to

Code
of Ethics
The
Code of Ethics is a standard that reminds
us and binds us to the obligations that
we hold as technology professionals. These
ideals are principles that all members should
hold as a basis for their everyday careers.
Standards
of Conduct
These
standards expand on the Code of Ethics by
providing specific statements of behavior
in support of each element of the Code.
They are not objectives to be strived for,
they are rules that no true professional
will violate. It is first of all expected
that an information processing professional
will abide by the appropriate laws of their
country and community. These standards address
tenets that apply to the profession. |
