Gardening with Grandkids - June 9-10, 2008; more info A super hands-on, make it and take it workshop! Interact with your grandparents with loads of fun
activities: create a bejeweled stepping stone for the garden, plant an upside-down tomato with an herb/salad garden on top of it, construct a topiary and paint a pot to hold it, snack on garden yummies, and much more. Because we won’t have time for all the fun activities we’d like to do, we’ll be showing you
examples and sending you home with a detailed booklet of other engaging projects to do together.
Amoeba Mania!!! - June 10 - 12 and 17-19, 2008; more info
During the camp, we will do hands-on projects in a real science lab with microscopes and petri dishes, viewing and studying cells, organelles and protozoae. We will investigate simple biological processes like photosynthesis, grow our own edible organelles, and study what happens to single-celled organisms that are exposed to isopropyl alcohol.
We will even record our own electrocardiograms (ECGs) using a simulation computer.
Kids' Cooking Academy - June 17-19 and June 24-26, 2008; more info Kids ages 6-13 are invited to join us on the EIU
campus for a two-week kids’ cooking
extravaganza! This program is great for
beginner-level cooks and kids with
intermediate-level kitchen skills. A graduation and reception/tea for participants will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Certificates of completion
will be presented to all participants by a
professional chef. All participants and families are invited
to attend.

The objective of the school
is to introduce students to new techniques and help students refine their aesthetic skills. Campers will have the opportunity to focus on three
of four areas of concentration during the week-long experience, and will be expected to commit themselves to a demanding course of study and development. A variety of recreational activities will also be planned and students will have time to relax, make new friends and experience
campus life.
