How do I apply to the program? Eastern's application is accessible from Eastern's homepage www.eiu.edu or from our website. Click “apply online” in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Anyone who previously attended Eastern, will not be required to pay the $30 application fee, as that is a one-time fee. We recommend that Eastern alumni print the paper application, as electronic submission requires payment of the $30 fee.
In addition to the application, our office will need official transcripts from all the colleges and universities that the applicant attended.
Is this an accredited program? Yes. It is accredited by the North Central Association of the Commission on Higher Learning.
What are the requirements for admission? An applicant must be a mature adult, at least 25 years of age. It is recommended that a prospective student have 60 hours of earned college credit at the time of application.
How much does it cost? Fees include:

~ Off-campus classes include a continuing education fee of $37 per semester hour
~ Textbook rental fee of $8.95 per hour
What can I do with a BA degree in General Studies? BGS Degree Program graduates are eligible to apply for any position that requires a BA degree. Our graduates can be found in all walks of life and in all kinds of careers.
The majority of BGS graduates enroll in a graduate program.
How can I complete the requirements?
Students can take classes here on Eastern's campus, at many off-campus sites, or by internet.

Continuing Education Fee
The School of Continuing Education is committed to provide the highest quality service and support to our off campus adult students. Due to the increase in operating costs and professional personnel costs in the School of Continuing Education it will necessitate the raising of the Continuing Education Fee to $44 per credit hour. The School of Continuing Education will use this revenue to maintain the highest quality of service to the School of Continuing Education off-campus adult students.
