2016 Media and Methods in Art Education Conference

Eastern Illinois University art educators invite you to the 32nd Annual Media and Methods in Art Education Conference on Saturday, March 5, 2016. The 32nd Annual Media and Methods Conference will feature twelve hands-on workshops exploring a variety of art media, art techniques, grade levels, and audiences.  The Conference format allows participants to attend three, one hour and forty-five minute, hands-on workshops — one morning session and two afternoon sessions. All workshops have limited enrollment and we encourage you to register early. In organizing the conference, we try to offer a wide range of workshops incorporating elementary, middle-level and high school media and methods. Content from most workshops can be modified to be appropriate for a particular academic level.

Begun in 1985 with the cooperation of the Eastern Illinois University Art Department and the School of Continuing Education, the Annual Media and Methods in Art Education Conference continues to gain in popularity each year. Available for participants is either one-semester hour of graduate college credit or Continuing Professional Development Hours (CPDH). In addition to our regular Conference sponsors, this year’s Conference is partially funded by a generous donation from the Central Region of Illinois Art Education Association. To encourage professionalism in art teachers, we offer a special registration discount for Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) members. We believe in the value of active participation in the profession of art education. One excellent way of becoming more informed about the profession is by membership in the only professional art education organization in the state, the Illinois Art Education Association. Please join us for a day of engaging hands-on workshops, collegial fellowship, and lesson plan exchange.

CPDH credit will be available for attending this conference. Eastern Illinois University is an approved provider of recertification credits. This conference is an excellent opportunity to earn CPDH towards recertification. Teachers will receive 5.25 CPDH hours for attending the conference.

Questions about the graduate credit course, CPDH credit, and general conference questions should be directed to the School of Continuing Education, http://www.eiu.edu/adulted/art_conf.php or via phone at (800-446-8918) or (217-581-5114), fax (217-581-6697), or via e-mail: learn@eiu.edu.

The registration fee of $85 includes conference materials, continental breakfast, and lunch.

A special registration fee of $80 is available for Illinois Art Education Association Members.

The registration fee of $60 is available for full-time college students with current I.D.
