What you will do

What EIU will be doing

Send final high school transcript showing graduation date along with college transcript(s) showing all coursework completed prior to attending EIU.

Arrange to visit campus. Log on to www.eiu.edu/~admissns to learn more about visit opportunities.

Apply for all federal and state aid including work-study and loans by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1. Be sure to include EIU as school of choice.

Research EIU scholarships online. Start own scholarship search on sites such as FastWeb.com.

Accept or reject your financial aid by signing and returning your Financial Aid Notification (FAN) letter along with all requested documents.

Once we download your file from the federal processor, we begin processing cycle. This cycle typically takes 30 days. If selected for verification, we will request additional documentation. Be sure to carefully read any and all coorespondence from our office.

When file completes the verification process, we will send your Financial Aid Notification (FAN) letter.

Application will be sent with your acceptance packet or is available on line. Students are encouraged to apply early.

Return the housing application and a $50 ($25 of which is non-refundable) deposit to establish a priority date for residence hall assignment.

Room and board contract and survey sheet mailed in March.

Return contract and survey sheet.

Copy of contract, housing assignment letter containing your room and building assignment, name(s) of your new roommate(s) with contact information and a pink remittance card with a business reply envelope mailed in May.

Homebase newsletter containing helpful information including items you may want to purchase before moving to campus included.

Return pink remittance card with initial housing payment of $250 (regardless of financial aid or pending financial aid) by June 12 to secure housing assignment.

Finalized housing assignment will be mailed in July. Requests for assignment changes cannot be accepted after July 22.

Move in.

All new students are required to attend an EIU Debut (orientation, advisement, registration) program. The program is designed to help students make a smooth transistion to Eastern and allow you to meet with an Academic Advisor and plan your course schedule.

Offices of Orientation and Registration will assign each student an EIU Debut Program date. Invitations will be mailed at least three (3) weeks prior to the assigned program date.

Attend assigned EIU Debut program.

Immunization form will be included with your admittance letter.
