What's the community like?

Campus community

The majority of Eastern Illinois University's more than 12,000 students come from Illinois and the Midwest with nearly 50 percent coming from the greater Chicago metropolitan area. However, students representing 19 states and more than 40 nations provide the campus with a cosmopolitan quality. Undergraduate students account for approximately 85 percent of the students. Eastern has one of the highest percentages of students living on campus at public universities in the nation. Students have the option of living in residence halls, University apartments, or Greek housing, which provide an integrated living-learning environment that contributes to a positive college experience.
