January

Apply for all federal and state aid including work-study and loans by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1. Be sure to include EIU (001674) as school of choice.

Start making plans to visit EIU.

If you haven't done so already, apply for housing. In order to receive housing contracts and surveys, students must first apply for housing.

Estimated financial aid award letters mailed to those who have filed.

EIU Debut (orientation, advisement and registration) invitations mailed. Just a reminder: EIU Debut is mandatory for all incoming students so return your reservations as soon as possible

Reminder: Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the March 1 preferred filing date to ensure full consideration.

Housing contracts and surveys mailed to students who have applied for housing. This is where you will indicate your residence hall preference and roommates.

Your financial aid award letter will be mailed to you at the end of this month if we received your FAFSA prior to the March 1 preferred filing date.

Attend You are EIU visit program on March 27th.

April

Complete your EIU Debut reservation form and return it to New Student Programs by April 20th to secure a program date.

Confirmations for EIU Debut will be mailed after April 20th, upon receipt of the New Student Enrollment Deposit.

May

Your New Student Enrollment Deposit must be postmarked by May 1 in order to secure your place in the freshman class.

Housing assignment letter mailed. New student Homebase (housing newsletter) mailed.

EIU Debut programs begin and continue through July. You will meet with your academic adviser and register for fall classes. (Reservations are required to attend EIU Debut).
