- Accreditation
reports/results: The department completed a site team visit
during April 2002. The team represented the SOPHE/AAHE
professional organizations (Society of Public Health Education, American
Association of Health Education). The final report was presented in November,
2003. Department received official notification of approval in March 2004.
- Active student learning opportunities
- 2 faculty/student mentor awards from Illinois professional organization
- HST 3200 class Health Fair , 23 EIU students and 75 elementary students
- 44 students completed internships and 4 students
completed student teaching
- Strategies
to improve P-16 teaching and learning: The Department offers an accelerated
summer offering of Safety and Driver Education courses for In Service teachers
wishing to complete the core courses leading to endorsement. 10 individuals
were served.
- Collaborative activities with business/industry:
- The Department Advisory Council has been reactivated.
After two meetings, retention and marketing strategies have been developed
and are being implemented.
- Evaluation
of BETR (Body Electric Tobacco Refusal) program involving 2 faculty and
4 student interns.
- Pass
rates on any professional/ occupational licensure exams: 03-04 Illinois
Certification Testing Health Results--
Exam was taken 11 times, 10 passed, 1 failed
