- Accreditation reports/results: The department
completed a site team visit during April 2002. The team represented the SOPHE/AAHE
professional organizations (Society of Public Health Education, American
Association of Health Education). The final report was presented in November,
2003. Department is awaiting official notification of approval.

- 2 faculty/student mentor awards from Illinois professional organization
- HST 3200 class Health Fair , 23 EIU students and 75 elementary students
- 44 students completed internships and 4 students
completed student teaching
- Strategies to improve P-16 teaching and learning:
The Department offers an accelerated summer offering of Safety and Driver Education courses for In Service teachers wishing to complete the core courses leading to endorsement. 9 individuals were served.
- Collaborative activities with business/industry:
- The Department Advisory Council has been reactivated.
After two meetings, retention and marketing strategies have been developed
and are being implemented.
- Evaluation of BETR (Body Electric Tobacco Refusal) program involving 5 faculty and 14 students
- Pass rates on any professional/ occupational
licensure exams: 02-03 Illinois Certification Testing 42 Health Results--
Exam was taken 6 times, 5 passed, 1 failed ( two individuals took exam twice
and failed).
