- Kathlene Shank, Rebecca Cook, Christy Hooser, Lynn Walz, and Billie Friedland each made individual research/paper presentations on the Fall 2002, 24th Annual Teacher Education Division of Council for Exceptional Children refereed program Fall 2001.
- Rebecca Cook made research presentations on the Early Childhood Sharing a Vision Conference Program, October 2001; Illinois Association of Teacher Education refereed program, November 2001; and the Illinois Council for Children with Behavior Disorders, Fall 2001.
- Kathlene Shank presented on the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children program November 2001.
- Thomas Sinclair presented on the TASH refereed program Fall 2001.
- Kathlene Shank presented on the refereed national programs of AACTE February 2002 and made two featured presentations on the Council for Exceptional Children Program Spring 2002.
- Lynn Walz presented on the 2002 national refereed program of ACRES.
- Kathlene Shank was Chair of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Subcommittee on Knowledge and Skills, and served on the CEC Professional Standards and Practices Standing Committee, 2001-2002.
- Rebecca Cook was Historian, 2001-2002 for the Illinois Teacher Education Division professional organization, and Kathlene Shank was Secretary/Treasurer of this state organization.
- Kathlene Shank was Chair of the Illinois Alliance of Special Education Administrators Standing Committee on Certification, 2001-2002.
- Kathlene Shank served on the AACTE Program Review Committee, 2001-2002.
- Rebecca Cook had an article accepted for publication in Young Exceptional Children, a national refereed journal.
- Lynn Walz and Billie Friedland published an ERIC document: "Pre Teachers Evaluate University-School Partnerships for Curriculum Adaptation and Access for Students with Disabilities in Rural Classrooms."
- Mark Brown published "Twenty Ways to Include a Student With an Attention Problem in the General Education Classroom," in the refereed journal, Intervention in School and Clinic.
- Celia Evans received the Fall 2001 Order of Omega Award, Sigma Rho Epsilon Honorary, Alpha Chapter.
- Thomas Sinclair received the Spring 2002 Order of Omega Award, Sigma Rho Epsilon, Alpha Chapter.
Community Service Projects:
- Kathlene Shank served on the Area 9 Special Olympics Games Committee and, with Dr. Christy Hooser, coordinated 600 student volunteers for the Fall 2001 Family Fun Festival and 500 volunteers for Spring Area 9 Special Olympics.
- Thomas Sinclair worked with Natural Ties and Sigma Rho Epsilon.
- Lynn Walz worked with the Coles County Association for the Retarded.
- Debra Belleau worked on the American Cancer Society and March of Dimes annual fund drives.
- Lynn Walz and Kathlene Shank reviewed articles for Teaching Exceptional Children, a national level, refereed journal.
- Kathlene Shank served on the Advisory Board of Teaching Exceptional Children.
- Rebecca Cook was Chairperson of the Electronic Mentoring Committee, ROE 11/EIU Novice Teacher Support Project.
- Lynn Walz reviewed texts for Prentice Hall publishers.
- Christy Hooser was a Council for Exceptional Children/NCATE program reviewer.
- Kathlene Shank was nominated to the NCATE Board of Examiners.
