College of Arts & Humanities Curriculum Committee Minutes

Chair Simpson called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
I. Minutes
On the motion of Hoerschelmann and second of Wolski, the minutes of October 19, 2011 were approved by acclamation.
II. Introduction of new student members
Molly Manhart, Theatre Arts, will represent the Fine Arts. Zachary Samples, History, will represent the Humanities.
III. Presentation of assessment executive summaries from CASL
Nora Pat Small presented the executive summaries and discussed them with committee members.
IV. Executive Actions
The Art Department is requesting by executive action to delete the weaving classes from the undergraduate and graduate catalogs; the classes are:
- ART 2800 – Introduction to Weaving. Credits: 3
- ART 3801 – Weaving II. Credits: 3
- Art 3802 - Weaving III. Credits: 3
- Art 4800 - Advanced Weaving. Credits: 3
- Art 4801 - Advanced Weaving II. Credits 3
- Art 4802 - Advanced Weaving III. Credits 3
- Art 5801 - Studies in Weaving I
- Art 5802 - Studies in Weaving II
- Art 5803 - Studies in Weaving III
Committee members agreed that these may now be sent for CAA action.
V. Items acted upon
- 11.06 Revised course proposal EIU 4158G
James Tidwell presented the proposal and addressed questions from committee members. Motion made (Newell-Amato) and seconded (Larson) to approve. Item approved with minor revisions. (6-0)
- 11.7 Revised course proposal EIU 4197G
James Tidwell presented the proposal and addressed questions from committee members. After discussion the proposal was tabled by acclamation. - 11.08 Revised course proposal EIU 4165G
James Tidwell presented the proposal and addressed questions from committee members. Motion made (Kim) and seconded (Wolski) to approve. Item failed (5-0) - 11.09 Revised course proposal JOU 3820
