Chair Coit called the meeting to order at 3:03 p.m.

The minutes of 4/22/09 were approved as written. 

II.    Items Acted upon

Stephen Canfield presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  Item approved unanimously (9-0)

•    08.36 New Course Proposal FLC 1102 Elementary Chinese II
Stephen Canfield presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  Item approved unanimously (9-0)

•    08.37 New Course Proposal FLF 3501 Teach French K-8
Stephen Canfield presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  On the basis of this discussion, agenda items 08.37, 08.39, and 08.41 were tabled and are to be reconsidered at the September 16, 2009 meeting.

•    08.38 New Course Proposal FLG 3314 German Novella
Stephen Canfield presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  Item approved unanimously (9-0)

•    08.40 New Course Proposal FLS 3250 Intro to Hispanic Lit Analysis
Stephen Canfield presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  Item approved unanimously (9-0)

•    08.42 New Course Proposal FLS 4645 Topics in Hispanic Culture
Stephen Canfield presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  Item approved unanimously (9-0)

•    08.43 Proposed Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Minor
Drs. Stowell and Mace presented the proposal and addressed questions from the committee.  Item approved unanimously (9-0)

III.    Other business

Grant Sterling, Philosophy, was elected Vice-Chair for the 2009-2010 academic year by acclamation.
