6th Annual EIU Red Week: The End of AIDS

Begins With Me

Monday, Dec. 2nd - Friday Dec. 6th, 2013

 

This year will mark the 6th Annual Red Week held at Eastern Illinois University. This event is sponsored by New Student Programs and the Office of Student Community Service. Red Week is a week devoted to help students become more aware of HIV/AIDS and the impact HIV/AIDS has on our world.

Monday, December 2nd

 "Faces of AIDS" Open Mic Night - Doudna Lecture Hall - 7:00pm

This open mic night allows students, family, and staff to voice their passion and energy through speech, song, spoken word, and much more. Join us for this moving event. For more information, contact Bryce Gergely at bjgergely@eiu.edu. 

Quilting Squars in the Union -Bridge Lounge MLK Jr. Union - 11am-3pm

Tuesday, December 3rd

 
Movie Night: "Common Threads: Stories from the Quilt" - Phipps Lecture Hall (Physical Science building) - 6:30pm
Join us for this moving film showcasing a collection of profiles of individuals who are greatly affected by HIV/AIDS and how they are remembers through the AIDS Memorial Quilt. 

**A special guest speaker from the Greater Community AIDS Project in Champaign will be at the movie night!**

Wednesday, December 4th

 
6th Annual Red Show - Grand Ballroom - Doors Open at 6:00pm, Show Starts at 7:00pm 
Experience a night of singing, step performances, spoken words, and fashion! Join together to fight against HIV/AIDS. Help us raise $1,000 to benefit HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention! Pick up your tickets for $3 or get the VIP Package for $10 and receive a ticket to the Red Show along with a Red Week button and shirt! Tickets are available for purchase prior to the show in the New Student Programs Office in the MLK Jr. Union. Tickets can also be purchased at the door! 
 
EIU Goes Red: Doudna Steps Group Picture - 2pm
Students dressed in red are encouraged to visit the Doudna steps at 2pm to express their dedication to HIV/AIDS awareness and take a photo!

Free HIV testing will be done on the 3rd floor of the Union.
