Local Agencies

Non-profit request for Volunteers

Helping our furry allies is a great way to make a difference in your local community. Many dogs and cats in the animal shelter lack enough attention and socialization to be able to be placed in a happy home. You can make a difference by walking the dogs and playing with the kitties! Help our future pets by giving them attention first!

For more information about these organizations, please contact our office at 217-581-3967 or email volunteer@eiu.edu.

Genesis Animal Rescue

Genesis Animal Rescue is dedicated to ending the suffering of animals by providing compassionate care, rehabilitation, and adoption. Established in 2001, we are an ALL volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c) 3 charitable organization who relies on supporters dedicated to rescue. We are a licensed animal shelter/foster home organization with the Department of Agriculture for Illinois. Our group consists of individuals who have donated countless volunteer hours to the plight of homeless and abused animals. These people open their homes and hearts to act as foster parents until permanent placement is established.

Volunteer opportunities and our online volunteer application can be found on our website: http://www.genesisanimalrescue.org under the Volunteer tab. In addition to on-going, individual volunteer opportunities, Genesis also welcomes help from student groups on fundraisers, donation drives, & our special events.
