Admission to the School of Technology Graduate Programs
The following admission process pertains to the applicants to the graduate programs in Technology, including Master of Science in Technology degree, and graduate certificate programs.
New Graduate Students
If you are new to the graduate programs, please follow these steps:
1. Submit your application to the EIU Graduate school
The following is the link for the domestic graduate application at EIU: http://www.eiu.edu/graduate/prospective_admissions.php
The application form for international applicants is available at: http://www.eiu.edu/%7Einterntl/
The following materials are required by the graduate school and the international programs office:
Academic transcripts from all institutions (with English translations)
Proof of bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
The international programs office requires test score of TOEFL in addition to the above documents. Please refer to the web site of the international programs office for more details. (http://www.eiu.edu/%7Einterntl/) Make sure your email and mailing addresses on the application form are legible and valid.
2. Submit two recommendations
You must submit two standard recommendation forms from individuals who can attest to the your potential graduate level academic performance. Recommendation form can be found at http://www.eiu.edu/tech/Grad/Recommendation%20Form.pdf.
The forms must be sealed and signed by the original reference.
Photocopy is not acceptable. Mail recommendation forms to:

3. Submit a resume
Applicants are required to submit a resume showing relevant experience in the field of technology.
4. Submit a Statement of Purpose Essay
Applicants are required to submit a Statement of Purpose essay, which should include their academic background, related work experience, personal and professional goals, and reasons to pursue graduate studies in Technology. click here for the Guidelines for Writing a Statement of Purpose.
Email your resume and Statement of Purpose essay to Ms. Laurie Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you prefer, you may mail your resume and Statement of Purpose essay to the Graduate Programs address shown above.
The graduate programs office will contact the applicant through email for an interview if the applicant lives in the vicinity. Make sure your email addresses on your application form is valid.
Either the graduate school or the international programs office will inform you of your admission status. Make sure your email and mailing address on the application form are legible and valid.
Current Graduate Students with Degree Changes
If you are already in the graduate program and want to add either the Master of Science degree or a graduate certificate program to your study, submit the form of “Change of Status” to the graduate school.
On the form, indicate the program you would like to add. This form is available athttp://www.eiu.edu/graduate/forms_statuschange.php.
The Graduate Application Process
The graduate school or international programs office will admit the students to the graduate school, based upon the minimum requirements by the university.
