ADMISSION

Admission to exhibitions and events is free except as indicated.

To encourage participation admission is free to the galleries and many activities; fees for performances, classes, and workshops are low-cost, and discounted for Tarble members.

Calendar

Eligibility and Media

Any two-dimensional work on paper that involves any water- based painting media (watercolor, gouache, etc.) and/or drawing media (pencil, pastel, charcoal, etc.), including monotypes, collage, hand-made paper, and mixed media, is eligible for entry.

Multiples (printmaking, photographs, digital prints) are not eligible.

All entries must be original, completed within the last two years by a resident of Illinois, and not previously exhibited at the Tarble Arts Center.

Up to three entries may be submitted per artist.

There is no entry fee.

All entries must be framed and glazed (glass or plastic).

Rules of Entry

Entry is by actual works only (no digital images or slides).

All entries must be received at the Tarble Arts Center by 4 pm, Oct. 28, 2010.

No entries will be accepted for jurying without a completed application card, notification card, and entry tags.

Entry tags must be filled out and securely attached to the upper right corner on the back of each entry. This form may be duplicated

All entries must have a stated value, with those not for sale marked NFS.

All entries must be ready for installation by means of strap hangers, screw eyes, or side brackets attached to the frame.

Awards

All awards will be given at the discretion of the juror:

The purchase award winners will be added to the Tarble Arts Center Permanent Collection.

Entries marked as being eligible for the purchase awards will be considered at the amount of the award only, including entries marked NFS and/or valued at an amount greater than the amount of the award. (Example: An entry marked as eligible for the Best-Of-Show will be purchased at $2,000 even if it is marked NFS and insured for $3,000.)

All entries will be eligible for the Merit Awards, and other awards may be added prior to jurying.

Sales will be encouraged, with no commission fee required

Awards will be presented at the reception on Dec. 12, 2010 starting at 2:30pm.

Liability and Insurance

Upon receipt entries will be insured at fair market value until 5pm, Dec. 12, 2010, for works not accepted for exhibition, and through 4 pm, March 12, 2011, for works exhibited.

The Tarble Arts Center and the Board of Trustees of Eastern Illinois University assume no responsibility for entries left after the applicable dates, or for any loss or damage incurred in shipping or handling prior to receipt at the Tarble Arts Center.

Entries left after March 12, 2011, will be disposed of at the discretion of the Tarble Arts Center.

Juror

Artist Harold Boyd has been described as a "master of line and psychological nuance."  His art has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums.

Recent solo exhibition venues include I-Space (Chicago, IL), Conduit Gallery (Dallas, TX), and Perkinson Gallery (Millikin University, Decatur, IL). His art is in the collections of the San Francisco Museum of Art, Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery (University of Nebraska, Lincoln), Illinois State Museum (Springfield), and many other museums and universities.

A member of the Watercolor USA Honor Society, Boyd received the Juror's Award in the 1997 Watercolor USA exhibition.

Boyd is a Professor Emeritus of Illinois State University where he was a member of the studio art faculty for 35 years. His studio is in Bloomington, IL.

Receiving

All entries must be received by 4 pm Oct. 28, 2010, at the Tarble Arts Center.

Hand-delivered entries will be accepted during open hours only (see Rules of Entry).

Shipped entries must be glazed with plastic (Plexiglas, etc.); may be shipped via Federal Express, United Parcel Service, etc.; include a check or money order to cover return costs made out to Eastern Illinois University; allow at least one day for processing by EIU Central Receiving; there is no weekend delivery for shipped entries.

NOTE:  October 23 is EIU's Homecoming; and there may be construction along 9th Street during receiving dates, with traffic restricted to one-way south-bound on 9th Street, but in this case the Tarble will be accessible via the large parking lot just north of the center, and a north-bound detour route for 9th Street will be marked.

Reclaiming

Hand delivered entries not selected for exhibition should be picked up Nov. 13 - 24 or Dec.12, and must be claimed by 4 pm, Dec. 12.

Hand delivered entries exhibited should be picked up March 1 - 12, 2011, and must be picked up by 4pm, March 12, 2011. EXCEPTION: artists with at least one entry accepted for exhibition may pick up all entries March 1 - 12, 2011.

Hand delivered entries will be released during open hours only, and only to the artist or to a representative with written permission from the artist.

Shipped entries will be returned in the original shipping carton and by the carrier used for delivery, and prepayment of return shipping is required.

Shipped entries will be sent out no later than March 23, 2011.
