Established in 2007, the Civil Service Council Scholarship holds the following criteria: The recipient(s) must be a former, current or retired Non-Negotiated Civil Service employee; or a child or grandchild of a former, current or retired Non-Negotiated Civil Service employee. The recipient(s) shall be a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled in a minimum of six (6)credit hours of coursework. Recipient(s) shall maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good academic standing. High school seniors accepted to Eastern Illinois University shall enroll in a minimum of six (6) credit hours of coursework and be ranked in the top 25% of their class. Applicants shall complete the application process, including the identification of their relationship as outlined above, including position and retirement year, if applicable. Financial need shall be the determining factor if qualifications are otherwise equal. Need will be based on an impact statement that will be captured on each of the applications. The recipient(s) may be eligible to apply for, and receive, the award again provided that he/she continues to meet criteria. The award(s) shall be selected in the Spring semester and made payable in the following Fall semester to Eastern Illinois University to be first applied against costs (tuition, fees, housing, etc.) associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University.
