At the time of selection, the recipient shall possess the following: be a full-time student at Eastern Illinois University, have a declared major in chemistry, have completed at least three semesters in a chemistry program of study, including at least three college-level chemistry courses. Other criteria include being of sophomore, junior or senior status, having at least one semester of undergraduate study remaining at the university, having achieved an overall GPA of 2.75 and at least a 3.0 GPA in chemistry courses, and having completed or be in the process of completing at least one semester of research with the Chemistry faculty mentor who would supervise the summer project. The recipient must be undertaking research that shows promise of leading to publication as shown in part, by a brief written description of the proposed research, and show potential for undertaking independent research as demonstrated in part by his/her most recent research report.
