Welcome From David Glassman
I recently made one of the biggest and best choices in my career to come to Eastern Illinois University.
The decision really was an easy one, especially after experiencing first-hand the passion that our students, faculty and staff have for this truly outstanding institution. Our students feel at home here. Many of them work one-on-one with highly talented, highly caring faculty in both mentoring and research. They are greeted by their first names – both in- and outside of the classroom. They become a part of a larger community where opportunities – academic, residential and service-focused – run rampant.
Eastern provides the same exciting opportunities and individualized attention of a private university while retaining the much lower cost and accessibility of a public institution. You can't beat that return on your educational investment!
If academic excellence and a highly enjoyable living environment that is welcoming and inclusive of all students is what you seek, look no further than Eastern. Each year, hundreds of students achieve their educational goals and head off, well-prepared to begin the next phase of their lives. They always come back, though, whether it be through the fond memory of a special individual or event, or by physically returning to campus to reunite with old friends. Those who become a part of the Eastern family routinely develop a life-long love for their alma mater.
I am deeply humbled knowing that I've been entrusted with the leadership of this beloved university. And, as I begin my tenure, I pledge to do all that is within my power to maintain the spirit of excellence that is our mantra here. I promise that we will continue to be accessible and affordable to the citizens of Illinois and beyond, and that the success of our students will continue to be our No. 1 goal.
My office sits on the first floor of Old Main – the “Castle.” If I can be of service, please don’t hesitate to stop by when you’re on campus. Or you can contact me at 217-581-2011 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’m so proud and honored to be a Panther. And, if you’re not one already, I hope you, too, will become one soon.
