  • This excerpt is taken from the book transcribed by Fran Leeper Buss from hundreds of hours of interviews with Maria Elena Lucas. It tells the life story of Lucas, from working on a farm and being sprayed by pesticides by a crop-dusting plane, to her work with the Farm Labor Organizing Committee. She continues to be an activist for migrant workers in the United States.
