Transfer Prowl - Spring 2013
What is Prowl?
We know college is exciting, but also challenging. So, we’ve developed a program focused on helping you make a smooth transition to your new life as an EIU Panther.
Prowl offers educational and social opportunities for you to learn about community expectations and how you connect to Eastern – Opportunities that will provide you with a solid foundation for both personal and academic success.
Check-in
All new students (freshmen and transfers) are required to check in to the Prowl program and participate in several activities throughout the day.
The Welcome and Convocation session is Friday, August 16, 2013 in Lantz Arena.

Friday, August 16
- 8:30am Prowl Check-in, Lantz Arena
- 9:15am Prowl Welcome & Convocation, Lantz Arena(mandatory)
- 10:00am College Meetings (mandatory)
- 11:00am & 11:30am Transfer Connections Workshops(Limited Seating)
- 11:30pm Prowl Welcome Lunch, South Quad
- 12:15pm EIU Reads Book Discussion Luncheon, MLK Jr. Union (Transfers only, Limited Seating)
- 1:15pm Hit The Ground Running (Limited Seating, Highly Recommended)
- 3:30pm New Student Photo & T-shirt Giveaway(mandatory)
- 7pm-11pm Up All Night, MLK Union
Saturday, August 17
- 9:30am Jumpstart 2 G.I.V.E. Check-in, South Quad(mandatory)
- 10am-3pm Jumpstart 2 G.I.V.E.: Panthers Serving Locally & Thinking Globally (mandatory)
- 2:30pm-4pm Find Your Classes Tours, Library Quad
- 4pm Transfer Student Reception, Taylor Hall Patio
- 7pm-11pm Quakin’ in the Quad, South Quad
Sunday, August 18
- 11am-3pm Find Your Classes Tours, Library Quad
- 1pm-3pm Charleston Community Block Party, Sister City Park
- 3pm Frederick Winters: Comedic Hypnotist, MLK Union
- 4pm LGBTQIA Reception, MLK Union
- 8pm First Night: An EIU Tradition, South Quad
You will also receive the full Prowl six-week schedule when you check in to Prowl on Friday, August 16.
Yes, you have to participate!
But with a variety activities to choose from, we’re pretty sure there’s something interesting out there for you.
Following your check-in, Welcome, and Convocation, you will participate in several additional sessions.
Transfer Connections Sessions: Departments from across campus will hold informational sessions on the services that are offered at Eastern. You can hear about anything from study abroad, booth library, or how to get involved in intramurals...the possibilities are endless!
Academic College Meetings: The deans and the faculty will welcome you to the academic community and provide specific information about what it means to be a part of their colleges.
Hit the Ground Running: Featured guest speaker Jeff Stafford will lead you through an interactive and motivational "Orange Slice Training" to help you set and reach goals that will lay the foundation for your success at Eastern.
Saturday, August 17:
Jump Start 2 G.I.V.E.: Panthers Serving Locally & Thinking Globally– You will participate in one of over 25 service activities on Saturday morning. You registered for this activity on your Debut day.
