Prowl encourages students to become active citizens of the university, local and global communities. One of the ways we engage students in becoming citizens is through our G.I.V.E. activities, Getting Involved in Volunteer Efforts.
Below are the G.I.V.E. activities for Prowl 2012.
JumpStart 2 G.I.V.E. – Saturday, August 18: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., LibraryQuad
Students will be asked to participate in one community service activity in and a social issues discussion.
G.I.V.E. Fair – Tuesday, August 29: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., South Quad
The G.I.V.E. fair provides an opportunity for students to learn more and connect to Service RSO’s and local community organizations that need volunteers. This is the third year for this event and is a partnership between the Student Volunteer Center (Newman Catholic Center), Student Community Service and New Student Programs.
9/11 Memorial Blood Drive – September 5 & 6: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., University Ballroom, MLK, Jr. University Union
This annual blood drive is a partnership between the Red Cross and New Student Programs.
6th Annual EIU Run Red: Run for a Reason – Saturday, September 29: 8:30 a.m. check-in, 9:15 a.m., Race Time, Campus Pond & Panther Trail
This 2.5k & 5k walk or run event benefits the local Red Cross disaster relief fund. The $20 entry fee will go to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Participants will receive a t-shirt and the chance to win door prizes.

Red Week – To Be Announced.
Join us for a week of events & activities to fight against HIV/AIDS. The Red Week is a variety of events & activities geared to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS. Eastern Illinois University encourages the campus and local community to join our campaign to raise money to fight against HIV/AIDS. If you or any organization you advise/member of is interested in being a part of World AIDs Awareness Week Planning. Please complete the online form.
Volunteer your time to help a G.IV.E. Activity:
Become a member of the G.I.V.E. team by donating your time and talents to a G.I.V.E. event. Volunteers can help by working an event, joining an event street team, running informational tables and much more.
