Saturday String Program - New Fall 2011

Studying Strings! All children can learn to play a string instrument! Research has shown that studying a string instrument from a young age improves cognitive ability and develops discipline and concentration. Children develop musical skills, life skills, and a love of music. String instruments come in small sizes for children.

Violin:   Suzuki lessons: 3-8 yrs

            Traditional lessons: 8-12 yrs

Cello:    Traditional lessons: 5 yrs+

Weekly group lessons begin Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the Doudna Fine Arts Center at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. EIU string faculty Anna Cromwell and Ka-Wai Yu are the instructors.

Schedule: 15 weeks of lessons, no make-up lessons, tuition due 8/13, no refunds

Lessons 

Suzuki Pre-twinkle Violin Groups - $100.00 Semester Tuition
Ages 3-5: 6-8 students participate in 45-minute Saturday morning classes emphasizing clapping rhythms, beginning bow hold and posture exercises, listening games, and following directions. Successful completion of this class is a prerequisite for semi-private or private Suzuki lessons. Parental attendance and participation are mandatory. (Tuition includes cardboard violin and dowel stick bow.)
Ages 6-8: same as above except students can switch to real violins during the semester, instrument rental or purchase suggested. See information below regarding renting and buying instruments.

- Tuition determined by enrollment. Please wait to send in your check for Traditional Small Groups until you receive email confirmation of class size: 3 students for 30 minutes: $115 semester tuition; 2 students for 30 minutes: $160 semester tuition; private lessons may be available by request.

Please fill out and return the application form to reserve a spot for the fall. All classes will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. A check for the full tuition will be due on August 13, 2011.
