The Department of Music at Eastern Illinois University is dedicated to helping students achieve their musical and educational goals. An innovative curriculum, exceptional facilities, and dedicated faculty combine to produce outstanding teachers and performers throughout the United States and abroad. The Department of Music offers a Teacher Licensure Option for those who wish to become public or private school music teachers, and a Performance Option for those who wish to develop performance skills sufficient to enter the performance profession or for graduate level study in performance. Students in both options study music theory, music history and literature, music technology, conducting, solo and ensemble performance, and music pedagogy. The Music Department expects to offer a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music in the near future.
