Eastern welcomes new faculty members
The Department is very happy to welcome four outstanding musicians and educators to the faculty. They include Dr. Anna Cromwell (violin and viola), Mr. Jay Ivey (voice), Dr. Jemmie Roberston (trombone and euphonium), and Mr. Jamie Ryan (percussion). They bring a wealth of experience to Eastern, and we look forward to the significant contributions they will make to the students and the Department.
Christopher Taylor, piano:

The EIU Music Department and the Illinois State Music Teachers' Association will present Christopher Taylor in a recital of works by Beethoven, Chopin, Bermel, and Bolcom. Critics hail him as "one of the most impressive young pianists on the horizon today" (The Washington Post) and "frighteningly talented" (The New York Times). The concert will be held in the Doudna Fine Arts Center's Dvorak Concert Hall and is the highlight of the ISMTA Conference. Admission to the concert is free.
Faculty Recital, Jemmie Robertson, trombone:
Sunday, November 8, 4:00 p.m.
New faculty member Jemmie Robertson will perform a recital of music my Eric Ewazan as the featured event of EIU Trombone Day. Jemmie will be joined by Robert Elfline, piano and Christine Robertson, soprano. The recital will be held in the Doudna Fine Arts Center's Recital Hall. Admission to the recital is free.
Wind Symphony, Milt Allen, conductor:
Tuesday, November 10, 7:30 p.m.
In honor of Veteran's Day, the EIU Wind Symphony, under the direction of Milt Allen, will salute veterans past and present with "The Call of Duty" at 7:30 p.m, Tuesday, Nov. 10. All Active-duty military members and veterans wearing all or part of their uniforms or VFW regalia will be admitted free. A "To Honor, Thank and Remember" display will be set up on the Doudna Concourse. Concert details.
