Faculty Research Efforts

LCBAS is proud of the contributions our faculty make to research initiatives across Eastern’s campus, especially when these efforts involve colleagues from different academic areas.


Dr. Katherine Shaw

Katherine ShawDr. Katherine Shaw (School of Family and Consumer Sciences) and Instructor Gabe Grant (School of Technology) have been awarded an LCBAS Faculty Award for Interdisciplinary Research (FAIR) for the analysis of green inks on textile products when exposed to washing and light.

Dr. Denise Smith

Denise SmithDr. Denise Smith (School of Business) and Dr. Linda Simpson (School of Family and Consumer Sciences) are researching the development of an interdisciplinary curriculum for a new course in financial literacy.

Dr. Peter Liu

Peter Ping LiuDr. Peter Liu is part of a research team including fellow School of Technology faculty members Dr. Jerry Cloward, Dr. Rendong Bai, Dr. Issac Slaven and Dr. David Melton; as well as Dr. Rose Gong, Department of Secondary Education and Foundations. The research team recently received a three year, $198,695 grant from the National Science Foundation for their study entitled, "Enhancing Undergraduate Education Through Student-Led Research in Biomass Renewable Energy". The research is part of Eastern’s on-going commitment to renewable energy, which includes the opening of a state of the art renewable energy center on campus, as well as the formation of the Center for Clean Energy Research and Education (CENCERE).
