Katie represents EIU on a day-to-day basis in Springfield. She coordinates legislative and regulatory affairs on behalf of the University. She keeps in regular contact with elected officials, legislative staff, and relevant agencies maintaining EIU’s reputation for excellence, advocating for favorable legislative outcomes and working to increase EIU’s support from the State. Katie also assists in coordinating Federal legislative affairs, works with Alumni Services on capitol-area alumni relations, and helps facilitate the Governor Jim Edgar Speaker Series. Katie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration from Eastern Illinois University (’02) where she graduated with both University and Departmental Honors. Katie has completed some graduate studies at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Katie previously worked as a contract lobbyist and as the education policy and budget analyst for the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives. During her tenure as a student at EIU she served as voting Student Member of the Illinois Board of Higher Education, Chair of the Illinois Board of Higher Education’s Student Advisory Committee, Chair of the Student Action Team and Student Body President.
