Dr. Jeffrey Willardson
Excellence in Research
Jeffrey M. Willardson is currently an Associate Professor in the Kinesiology and Sports Studies Department at Eastern Illinois University where he teaches Biomechanics, Principles of Exercise Physiology, and Principles of Resistance Training courses. He received a Ph.D. in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State University in 2005 and was awarded the Outstanding Graduating Scholar. He has since conducted or contributed to more than 50 scientific investigations and reviews examining different aspects of weight training for improving health and athletic performance. The culmination of Dr. Willardson’s work was in 2012, as he was a featured speaker at the International Symposium of Sports Sciences in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr. Willardson is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and serves on the Education Board for the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He enjoys teaching students the applied aspects of scientific research and preparing them for successful careers. In his free time, Dr. Willardson enjoys lifting weights and spending time with family.
