Excellence in teaching

Dr. Ankenbrand received a BS from Eastern Illinois University, a MS degree from Indiana State University, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri. He has certifications in physical education, health, driver education, business, special education and is certified as a Principal and superintendent. Dr. Ankenbrand taught all subjects in elementary schools and currently teaches KSS 2450 - Adapted Physical Education; KSS 3600 - Elementary Physical Education; and golf. He has taught at EIU for more than 35 years and loves every moment of teaching. In addition, he served as the chair of the KSS department, associate dean and dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies. Honors include excellence in teaching awards, EIU Athletics Hall of Fame induction, and induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He also has been in charge of Special Olympics for more than 35 years at EIU.
