About the ITC
Welcome to the Instructional Technology Center!
The Instructional Technology Center (ITC) provides frontline technology support for faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the College of Education & Professional Studies as well as the general EIU community.
The ITC is one of the premiere teacher education resource centers in the State of Illinois. We have a growing online presence and you will find many resources of value related to teaching and learning via our blog, podcast, and YouTube Channel.
From low-tech to high-tech the ITC is here to help with your educational technology needs. The ITC is a division of the College of Education and Professional Studies and we believe in a "Pedagogy First" approach to implementing technologies and always focus on the learning first and foremost with a Minds-On Always, Hands-on Often teaching philosophy.
Want to keep up with all the happenings at the ITC this semester? Follow along with new developments by using this OneNote Notebook View-Only link shared below. This is a living/breathing digital notebook, so to speak, to notes about the events and presentations that regularly occur at the ITC throughout the semester. This will change often over the course of this semester so be sure to check back often.
Checkout the new "Sway" app that is currently in beta testing. Below is an example Sway that I think teachers of any level will find useful as a presentation and/or ePortfolio tool to showcase their work.
The ITC Chronicles blog provides readers a fresh perspective on new and innovative technologies by exploring practical uses for the classroom and beyond.
Our TechTalk4Teachers podcast has a world-wide audience with listeners in over 120 different countries and our EIUITC YouTube Channel provides many examples of “flipped learning style” videos for convenient and timely on-demand professional development opportunities for teachers.
While at the ITC students will find spacious work areas for group projects and one of the best selection of bulletin board supplies in the area with over 400 Ellison dies for your use while visiting the ITC. In addition the ITC provides checkout equipment to CEPS faculty for classroom use including, projectors, digital cameras, digital video cameras, student response systems, video conferencing equipment, and five mobile wireless laptop computer carts.
If you or your students would like assistance or professional development regarding the use of instructional technologies please contact Dr. Grissom in the ITC at 581-3823. A quickstart overview session can usually be given in 20-30 minutes on a variety of instructional technologies. Additional customized educational technology professional development sessions are available by request for CEPS faculty, staff, and students.
