My EIU Story
Education & Training
Rachel Z. Fisher is the founding Director of Student Community Service (established in 2008) at Eastern Illinois University. For the past five years, Rachel has led this new office and increased volunteer hours at EIU from 40,000 to 120,000 per each academic year.
Rachel has a Master’s degree in corporate communication and her master’s thesis dealt specifically with employee training and retention. Rachel’s previous work includes a corporate trainer for Marriott hotels in the Los Angeles area. Rachel has a wide variety of public relations experience ranging from non-profit organizations to significant major corporations. Fisher has also led a public relations team for Oakwood Properties with a $.15M NOI.
Currently, Rachel works with a wide range of volunteers and civic leaders. Rachel is the key creator and organizer of service projects ranging from 40 to 1,500 volunteers. Her positive energy and “can-do” spirit have helped engage many in her community including civic leaders, non-profit executives, board members and more!
