INTRODUCTION

Dr. Rendong Bai received his PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky in 2008.  He joined the School of Technology at Eastern Illinois University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in 2008 and became an Associate Professor in 2013.  Prior to his tenure at EIU, he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Eastern Kentucky University in Department of Computer Science from 2007 to 2008.  Dr. Rendong Bai's research interests include mobile computing, wireless networks, multimedia and web technologies, computer-aided design and manufacturing, and renewable energy.

Selected Professional Projects

  • The 22nd Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress Conferencing System (1998-1999)
    • More than 4,000 participants from over 180 countries and 31 international organizations.
    • Over 60 delegations were at or above ministerial level.
    • Four modules: electronic voting, floor requesting, camera locating, and conference database.
    • Group won the "Outstanding Contribution Award".
  • Fire Alarm Computer Monitoring System (1998-2000). Designed and implemented the system to visualize and monitor fire alarms in real-time. System deployed in places such as The Cultural Palace of Nationalities in Beijing.
  • Human Physiology Glossary CD (2000). The CD collects frequently used physiological vocabulary and explanation in both Chinese and English, narrated by native English speaker, and sold with a human physiology textbook.
  • Linux Installation Module (2000). Developed the installation module of Red Flag Linux.
