INTRODUCTION

Since 1980, Mark Rubel has made about a thousand recordings at his Pogo Studio, Champaign IL. He has recorded Hum, Alison Krauss, Adrian Belew, Melanie, Luther Allison, Henry Butler and many others, including work for RCA, Capitol, Warner, Jive/Zomba, etc. Mark belongs to ASCAP, AES, NARAS, SPARS, the Music and Entertainment Industry Educator's Association (MEIEA), and is currently on the national board of the Society of Professional Audio Recording Services.  He is a member of the Grammy Producers Committee, as well as the NARAS Producers and Engineers Wing and Education Committees.

Having taught audio technology and music business at the college level to thousands of students since 1985, Mr. Rubel now teaches Music Technology, the History of Rock and various other subjects at EIU.  He travels about giving panels and workshops, and rocking with his thrash oldies band Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets, now in their 31st year.  Mark has been featured in various books and magazines, and published various reviews, essays and interviews, including interviewing Les Paul for Tape Op Magazine. He also acts as a consultant, beta tester and legal expert witness.
