INTRODUCTION

Lania Knight's first book, Three Cubic Feet, was a finalist for the 2012 Lambda Literary Award in Debut Fiction. Her writing has been recently published or is forthcoming in Fourth Genre, Missouri Review, The Rumpus, Literary Mama, New Stories from the Midwest, PANK,  Midwestern Gothic, Jabberwock Review, and elsewhere. She is the Editor for Bluestem, a literary magazine.

Research & Creative Interests

Current work is on a novel set in the future in the Midwest, a bleak time and place in which humans are cultivated like agricultural crops. Research for the novel includes nonfiction as diverse as Origin of Species, The World Without Us, Botany of Desire, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, and The Extended Phenotype, as well as YA novels like The Giver, House of the Scorpion, Hunger Games, The Knife of Never Letting Go, and Divergent.
