As the Graduate Coordinator of the M.S. The Child & Family Life Education Center is the practicum site for Human Services courses and provides enrichment programming for infants, toddler, and preschool children up to kindergarten age.  HSL 4851 - Infant Development is a senior/graduate level course that provides specialized experience and skills development with infants and young toddlers.  Contact Dr. Murphy for more information.   flmurphy@eiu.edu

WE WELCOME CHILDREN into the Child & Family Life Education Program - infants, toddlers and preschoolers up to kindergarten age.

Toddler and preschool programs are available fall and spring semester and follow the University calendar.

Infant program is available one semester per academic year).  Contact us at cflec@eiu.edu to find more information and to put a child on the waitlist.

Since 2016, the Department has offered a parent mentoring program to detainees at the Coles County Safety & Detention Center in Charleston, IL that is staffed by graduate students, interns, and community volunteers.   The "Family Life Education Parent Mentoring Program" serves to support parents who are detained in the Coles County Jail in their role as parents by meeting individually in mentoring sessions with the purposes of:
-support and encouragement;

-providing child development information;

-encouraging ways of maintaining communication between parent and children as appropriate.
