American Academy of Arts and Sciences 

Grants and Fellowships The American Academy of Arts and Sciences invites applications for its scholars-in-residence program. The Academy is an international research policy institute that accepts applications from the fields of science, the humanities, social science, business, public affairs, and the arts. The stipend is $40,000 for postdoctoral scholars and $60,000 for junior faculty members.  

American Antiquarian Society

Research Fellowships The AAS offers an array of short-term research fellowships for scholars holding the PhD and for doctoral candidates as well as long-term fellowships funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The stipends for all short-term fellowships are $1,850 and the twelve-month stipend is $40,000.

American Association of University Women

Grants and Fellowships As one of the world's largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW provides on average more than $4.3 million in funding for more than 278 fellowships and grants to outstanding women and nonprofit organizations. Recipients of a fellowship or a grant perform research in a wide range of disciplines and work to improve their schools and communities.

American Philosophical Society

Grants and Fellowships The APS offers a variety of funded research opportunities for doctoral candidates and faculty-members.

Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library

Fellowships Short-term fellowships are available to support visiting scholars pursuing post-doctoral or equivalent research. A living allowance of $4,000 per month, which is designed to provide access to the library for scholars who live outside the greater New Haven area. Granted for one month, fellowships must be taken up between September and May. 

Cambridge University Library

Fellowships This post-doctoral fellowship is normally for ten months (1 October-31 July) and there is a salary of about £32,267 (pro rata). The fellowship is meant to help with bibliographical research based in the first instance on the collections of the libraries of Cambridge, and likely to be of benefit to scholars using those collections in the future.

Center for Jewish History

Fellowships The Center for Jewish History provides support for Ph.D. candidates as they work on their dissertations. The fellowships carry a stipend of up to $14,000 for one academic year. 

Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies

Fellowships CLAGS, located in New York City, provides numerous opportunities for fellowships and awards for those active in the field of LGBTQ research.  The recipients can range from tenured professor to undergraduate student and the amounts from $250 to $6,250.      

Children's Literature Association

Grants Awards available for scholarship in the field of children's literature.

Institute for Research in the Humanities of the University of Wisconsin, Madison

Fellowships With 40-45 different fellowships, some with funding and some without, the institute does not specify the type of research required to receive one.  Although, fellowships are awarded across the humanities to all ranks, and even to independent scholars based on the significance of the proposed research.

Library Company of Philadelphia 

Fellowships The Library Company of Philadelphia and The Historical Society of Pennsylvania will normally award twenty-five one-month fellowships for research in residence in either or both collections.  The stipend for the one-month fellowships starts at $2,000. 

Penn Humanities Forum, University of Pennsylvania

Fellowships Penn Humanities Forum fellowships are available from the undergraduate to the postdoctoral level for individuals in all fields of the humanities.  At the postdoctoral level, the annual stipend is $46,500 plus single-coverage health insurance and a $2500 research fund.  

National Humanities Center

Fellowships   The National Humanities Center offers around 40 annual residential fellowships for advanced study in the humanities.  Fellowships can go to any postdoctoral work in all fields of the humanities such as: history, philosophy, languages and literatures, classics, religion, history of the arts, and other liberal arts.

Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture

Fellowships A fellowship for individuals between the ages of 25-40 who show serious interest in Jewish culture and demonstrate a potential for individual growth and communal leadership.

Newberry Library

Fellowships Long and short term fellowships are available for postdoctoral study and to those who would like to use the collection available at Newberry Library.  Residency is not important.  Stipends start at $2,000 per month.

Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study

Fellowships Radcliffe annually selected 50 scholars, artists, and writers that show exceptional promise.  Fellows are able to focus on their individual projects in the multidisciplinary environment of Harvard.  Positions available for postdoctoral work.
