Assessment of Need
Dr. William Perry, president of Eastern Illinois University, has established the goal of being the "best in the nation in the integrated academic and personal development of students." By incorporating the humanities into the core undergraduate curriculum, we expect vibrant exchanges and learning, creating an environment that prepares our students for work outside the academy.
Funding Priority Areas:
The EIU Center for the Humanities encompasses three priority areas:
- Continuing to fund the Lynch Humanities Visiting Lecture Series with an eye to adding a residential scholars component.
- Expanding and centralizing our current digital humanities outreach programs and resources.
- Creating a Humanities curriculum with integrative and interdisciplinary humanities courses at the B.A. and M.A. levels.
We are actively seeking and gratefully accept support for these projects. To contribute, please contact the EIU Foundation at: http://www.eiu.edu/develop/gift.php.
