What Is The Great American Smokeout?

The Great American Smokeout is a day for all current smokers in the United States to come together and quit tobacco use. The great American Smokeout was started nationwide in 1977 by the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society has created the necessary resources to aide tobacco users in their quest to quit. Examples of the resources are:

  • Nicotine replacement products
  • Stop-smoking groups
  • Telephone smoking cessation hotlines
  • Guidebooks

EIU's Great American Smokeout

Eastern Illinois University's Smokeout will be held on: Thursday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Library Quad. Smoking quit kits, free food, and drinks will be available to anyone who stops by the tent.

This year, we will be raffling off an iPod Nano to an attendee of the Great American Smokeout! Stop by the tent and enter your name into the drawing. A winner will be drawn at 1:50 p.m.
