In addition to presentations, there are interactive programs offered throughout the year.
Healthy Cooking 101
Healthy Cooking is a series of cooking classes throughout the year that feature different themes, cooking techniques, and aspects of proper nutrition. Registration is required for each event. This program combines both lecture and hands-on experience in the kitchen. No kitchen or nutrition experience is required and the best part is you get to eat what you make! Don’t hesitate to sign up for the sessions, as each class fills up fast.

Fruits and Vegetable Campaign
In the Spring of 2013 the Health Education Resource Center (HERC) in conjunction with County Market and Housing and Dining is proud to announce the start of a fruits and vegetables campaign at EIU. At such a pivotal time in nutrition awareness across the country, this campaign is designed to increase fruit and vegetable consumption to 5-9 servings per day among students.
In addition to having posters and paw prints in the dining centers, convenience markets, Union food court and County Market, a presentation about the importance of fruits and vegetables is available on request. This is great for floor programs, student organization meetings, and much more!
There will also be a focus group that will complete a five week program. Participants need to be able to attend an hour long session once a week during the program. The group will complete a fruits and vegetables challenge, have a grocery store tour, and learn about the importance of fruits and vegetables. Space is limited, so don’t hesitate to sign up!
