We begin and end each academic year with a study trip. Themes and locations vary, but each trip provides students with opportunities to get behind the scenes at various kinds of museums, and to network with professionals in the field. Recent venues have included: 

  • Louisville, KY: Food Literacy Project at Oxmoor Farm, Kentucky Derby Museum, Filson Historical Society, Kentucky Science Center. 
  • Detroit, MI: Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Detroit Institute of Arts, Henry Ford Museum
  • Chicago Suburbs: Robert McCormick Mansion and First Division Museum at Cantigny Park, Elgin Public Museum, Elgin Area Historical Society, Des Plaines History Center, Wagner Farm
  • Frankfort, KY: Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, Liberty Hall Historic Site, Kentucky Historical Society
  • Grand Rapids, MI: Grand Rapids Public Museum, Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum, Holland Museum, Grand Rapids Art Museum
  • The Great American Bottoms, IL and MO: Pierre Menard Home, various sites in historic St. Genevieve, Missouri History Museum, Cahokia Mounds
  • Springfield and vicinity: Illinois State Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, New Salem State Historic Site, McLean County Museum of History, David Davis Mansion, Dixon Mounds, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum
