Other Available Scholarships

The Old Main Memorial Academic Award Scholarship (pdf) is available to a full-time student(s) in an undergraduate or graduate program who is attending Eastern Illinois University, in good academic standing and disciplinary standing, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to student(s) who have participated in or are currently participating in undergraduate or graduate research. The award shall be announced in the Spring semester and awarded in the Fall semester. Scholarship applications are due by February 2, 2015. 

The Stan & Sandy Rives Excellence in Undergraduate Education Award (pdf) is available to a full-time student(s) in an undergraduate program who is attending Eastern Illinois University, in good academic standing and disciplinary standing, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to student(s) who have participated in or are currently participating in undergraduate research. The award shall be announced and paid in the Spring semester. Scholarship applications are due by February 2, 2015.

The Charles C. Shaw Scholarship (pdf) is available to a graduating senior of good character and academic standing from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School or Mattoon High school, who will be attending Eastern Illinois University. Should a student from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School not be available and meet criteria, the scholarship should be awarded to a student of good academic standing and character from Mattoon High School. First priority shall be given to an athlete who will be attending Eastern Illinois University. Should an athlete not be available to receive the award, then the award shall be granted to a Physical Education major (Kinesiology and Sport Studies) attending Eastern Illinois University. Should an athlete or Physical Education major not be available, the award shall be granted to a student studying science at Eastern Illinois University. The award shall be announced each spring and issued the following fall semester. The deadline for this scholarship application is March 2, 2015.

The EI+U Leadership Fund (pdf) is available to eligible recipient(s) and shall be awarded to full-time student(s) who have attended Eastern Illinois University for at least one year, are in good academic standing and disciplinary standing, and demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to student(s) with financial need who have demonstrated leadership, with priority to those with campus and/or community service. The award(s) shall be payable to Eastern Illinois University first to be applied against costs associated with the recipient attending Eastern Illinois University. The recipient(s) shall be eligible to apply for, and receive, the award again provided she/he continues to meet the criteria. The award(s) shall be issued annually. Scholarship applications are due by February 2, 2015.

The Edgar County Lord Scholarship (pdf) is available to any student who is a high school graduate of any school located within Edgar County, Illinois.  The recipient shall be in good academic standing as seen by Eastern Illinois University.  Financial need is a consideration.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 30, 2015.

The Walter and Lola Stephenson Cole Scholarship (pdf) is available to any student who graduated from Marshall High School.  The recipient should show promise of academic achievement and must demonstrate financial need.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 30, 2015.

The Florence Kaplan Scholarship (pdf) is available to any full-time female student at EIU who is of the Jewish faith.  A "B" average, 3.0 GPA should be maintained.  Financial need is a consideration.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship is May 1, 2015.

Established in 1994, the Coles County Business and Professional Women’s Club Scholarship Fund (pdf) was created to promote full participation in the workforce, equity, and economic self-sufficiency for America's Working Women, and the goal is to help women with critical funds at critical points in their lives. Eligibility criteria for this scholarship are as follows: The recipient must be from the Coles County, Illinois area and the recipient must be attending Eastern Illinois University. Financial need is a consideration. Transcripts of high school work coupled with completed college credits must be included with the application showing a strong 'B' academic average. A letter of acceptance from Eastern Illinois University must accompany the application. Two letters of recommendation are required. The award shall be announced in the Spring and paid in the Fall semester to Eastern Illinois University and may only be used for tuition, fees, and housing associated with the recipient(s) attending Eastern Illinois University. Scholarship applications are due by March 31, 2015.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award (pdf) recipient shall be duly enrolled and in good academic standing at EIU.  The recipient must, in thought and deed, be a living example of the ideals and values expressed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This scholarship award is announced on April 4 of each year, the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's death.  Nomination forms are due by March 25, 2015.

The Dr. Barbara L. Hill Memorial Scholarship (pdf) recipient(s) shall be a full-time student accepted to Eastern Illinois University.  The recipient(s) shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 in their major.  The recipient(s) shall be a student who is currently enrolled in a teacher certification program at EIU or has been accepted to a graduate program at EIU.  The selection committee shall require an essay of the applicants.  Special consideration will be given to service and professional involvement, academic achievement, scholarship and leadership.  Financial need shall be considered at the discretion of the selection committee.  Scholarship applications are due by April 3, 2015.

The Dwight & Bette (Leckrone) Baptist Scholarship (pdf) recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student or a full-time/part-time graduate student accepted to Eastern Illinois University.  The undergraduate recipient shall major in accounting or in family & consumer sciences, with an option in family services, dietetics, hospitality management in even-numbered fiscal years, or shall be an education major in odd-numbered fiscal years.  The undergraduate recipient shall hold a high school diploma from the Cowden, Salem, or Shelbyville, IL schools or successor school system.  The graduate recipient  must be enrolled in a graduate program within the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences (MBA or Family & Consumer Science majors) in even-numbered fiscal years, or the College of Education and Professional Studies in odd-numbered fiscal years. Financial need is not a consideration.  All award recipients shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Scholarship applications are due by April 3, 2015. 

The Gina Griffin Garcia Scholarship (pdf) recipient(s) must be a student accepted to Eastern Illinois University and a sophomore, junior, or senior student.  The recipient(s) shall be pursuing education toward a career in one of the health-related fields.  This includes physical therapy, pre-med, med tech, nursing, speech therapy, pharmacy, occupational therapy, health education.  The selection committee shall require a one page essay of the applicants.  Applicants should outline in the essay why they want to pursue a career in their chosen health-related field.  The recipient(s) must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.  Financial need may be a consideration.  Scholarship applications are due by April 3, 2015. 

The Caterpillar Homeland Security Scholarship (pdf) recipient(s) must be a graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in a field of study related to Homeland Security and accepted to Eastern Illinois University.  The recipient(s) of the scholarship shall be pursuing a certificate in a field of study related to Homeland Security.  Financial need is to be given consideration, giving opportunity for student(s) to complete an academic program in a field of study related to Homeland Security who may not otherwise be able to do so.  Preference shall be given to a student who has successfully completed one or more courses in a field of study related to Homeland Security.  Scholarship applications are due by April 5, 2014.

The Kuhl Family Scholarship (pdf) holds the following criteria for selection:  The recipient must be a full-time student of Sophomore or Junior status at the time of application, accepted to Eastern Illinois University.  The recipient must major in mathematics, or business, or family and consumer sciences with an option in hospitality, or elementary education and must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5.  Financial need is a consideration.  The scholarship will rotate from year to year in the following order:  Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (FY16), School of Business (FY17), School of Family and Consumer Sciences (FY18) and Department of Early Childhood, Elementary and Middle Level Education (FY19).  The recipient may only receive the award once.  Scholarship applications are due by April 3, 2015. 

The Robert and Norma Winkleblack Scholarship (pdf) holds the following criteria for selection:  The recipient must be a full-time student accepted to Eastern Illinois University who has graduated from one of the Coles County high schools.  An essay/narrative must be included with the application that demonstrates the student's potential to succeed.  Financial need is a consideration.  Scholarship applications are due by April 3, 2015
