Other Available Scholarships

The Edgar County Lord Scholarship (pdf) is available to any student who is a high school graduate of any school located within Edgar County, Illinois.  The recipient shall be in good academic standing as seen by Eastern Illinois University.  Financial need is a consideration.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 29, 2013.

The Walter and Lola Stephenson Cole Scholarship (pdf) is available to any student who graduated from Marshall High School.  The recipient should show promise of academic achievement and must demonstrate financial need.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship is March 29, 2013.

The Florence Kaplan Scholarship (pdf) is available to any full-time female student at EIU who is of the Jewish faith.  A "B" average, 3.0 GPA should be maintained.  Financial need is a consideration.  The deadline to apply for this scholarship is May 15, 2013.

The Dr. Barbara L. Hill Memorial Scholarship (pdf) recipient(s) shall be a full-time student accepted to Eastern Illinois University.  The recipient(s) shall maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 in their major.  The recipient(s) shall be a student who is currently enrolled in a teacher certification program at EIU or has been accepted to a graduate program at EIU.  The selection committee shall require an essay of the applicants.  Special consideration will be given to service and professional involvement, academic achievement, scholarship and leadership.  Financial need shall be considered at the discretion of the selection committee.  Scholarship applications are due by April 5, 2013.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award (pdf) recipient shall be duly enrolled and in good academic standing at EIU.  The recipient must, in thought and deed, be a living example of the ideals and values expressed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This scholarship award is announced on April 4 of each year, the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's death.  Nomination forms are due by March 22, 2013.

The Dwight & Bette (Leckrone) Baptist Scholarship (pdf) recipient shall be a full-time undergraduate student or a full-time/part-time graduate student accepted to Eastern Illinois University.  The undergraduate recipient shall major in accounting or in family & consumer sciences, with an option in family services, dietetics, hospitality management in even-numbered fiscal years, or shall be an education major in odd-numbered fiscal years.  The undergraduate recipient shall hold a high school diploma from the Cowden, Salem, or Shelbyville, IL schools or successor school system.  The graduate recipient  must be enrolled in a graduate program within the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences (MBA or Family & Consumer Science majors) in even-numbered fiscal years, or the College of Education and Professional Studies in odd-numbered fiscal years. Financial need is not a consideration.  All award recipients shall have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.  Scholarship applications are due by April 5, 2013. 

The Gina Griffin Garcia Scholarship (pdf) recipient(s) must be a student accepted to Eastern Illinois University and a sophomore, junior, or senior student.  The recipient(s) shall be pursuing education toward a career in one of the health-related fields.  This includes physical therapy, pre-med, med tech, nursing, speech therapy, pharmacy, occupational therapy, health education.  The selection committee shall require a one page essay of the applicants.  Applicants should outline in the essay why they want to pursue a career in their chosen health-related field.  The recipient(s) must have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.  Financial need may be a consideration.  Scholarship applications are due by April 5, 2013.
