The Student Success Center staff is seeking EIU students who will be juniors, seniors or graduate students Fall 2013 to be Peer Learning Assistants (PLA) during the Summer Institute of Higher Learning.  PLAs are academic mentors to 8-12 incoming freshman students,  PLAs are required to live in an assigned residence hall alongside mentees.  Employment date: June 14, 2013 - July 21, 2013.

This is an excellent oppoortunity to work with freshman college students as an academic mentor and role model.  PLAs will be responsible for activity programing, academic counseling, and other administrative duties.  PLAs will be hired as student employees for Summer 2013 and will receive Room and Board June 14-July 21, 2013 (when dining services open), a value of $1,800.  PLAs are required to participate in all three 90 minute mandatory training sessions on Mondays, April 1, 8, and 15, 2013 for which they will receive a $150 stipend upon completion.
