Exploring Organ Donation Trends Among Minorities
Jennifer Cannon explores why so few minorities participate in organ donation programs and how that trend is mired in a decades old history of oppression, abuse, and mistrust.
Graduate students in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences have a number of opportunities to get a leg up professional life.
One way this professional development is attained is through graduate assistantships within the department, giving students an opportunity for real-life work experience handling tasks directly related to the field they hope to one day enter full-time.
Meanwhile, a plethora of student organizations are available to help our students get involved and also network with fellow students and professionals. Among these organizations are:
- Kappa Omicron Nu
- Student Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
- Illinois Council on Family Relations
On top of all that, the department has cultivated strong relationships with a number of organizations at which its students can complete internships.
